Arapahoe Community College first to offer wireless network training

(Littleton, CO) October 11, 2001 - Arapahoe Community College (ACC) is the first community college in the nation to offer Certified Wireless Network Professional (CWNP®) training. This vendor-neutral, technology-specific training will begin in January, 2002 with the offering of a Level 1 CWNA course.

This three credit hour course will complement the Cisco®, Novell, Microsoft and CompTIA offerings at ACC and enhance any IT student's ability to configure networks by adding wireless to his or her existing knowledge of routing, switching and software administration. This class is also advisable for IT professionals in the workplace who want to be recognized as having technical leadership skills in the implementation and management of wireless networks.

Planet3 Wireless Inc., a Georgia-based company, developed the CWNP curriculum that ACC will be offering. This unique curriculum is being created by a team of subject matter experts led by Planet3 Wireless co-founder Devin Akin. Visit www.cwnp.com for more information on this new curriculum. Planet3 Wireless Inc. has recently been appointed to the Wireless Local Area Network Association board of directors.

After completing the Level 1 CWNA training, Arapahoe Community College students will be prepared to take the CWNA examination administered by Prometric. Planet3 Wireless Inc. plans to introduce Level 2 Certified Wireless Network Integrator and Level 3 Certified Wireless Network Expert curricula in the near future.

ACC was chosen to launch this CWNP® curriculum due to the strength of its faculty, its size of more than 7000 students and Planet3 Wireless Inc.'s belief that ACC has the best-integrated information technology program in the state of Colorado. Because wireless networking technology is still new and the CWNP® training and certification program is the industry's first vendor-neutral certification for wireless networking, the CWNP® offering puts Arapahoe Community College at the cutting-edge of Information Technology education. The goal of this wireless network training and examination process is to create the standard of wireless network education and knowledge among network experts, administrators and wireless network equipment manufacturers.

Special corporate training arrangements for the CWNP® courses can be made through ACC's corporate training arm, the Colorado Computer Center at 303-721-7611 or www.coloradocomputercenter.com. For more information about ACC's CWNA class, call Gary Troutman at 303-797-5833.
