LUCENT TECHNOLOGIES ATTAINS INDUSTRY STANDARD FOR WIRELESS LAN CERTIFICATION

ATLANTA, GA - October 18, 2004 - The Certified Wireless Network Professionals (CWNP) Program, the industry standard for wireless LAN training and certification, today announced that Lucent Technologies (NYSE: LU) has become the first Silver Certified CWNP Solutions Provider. By becoming CWNP-certified Lucent Worldwide Services will be able to design, deploy and support wireless networks, such as Wi-Fi or wireless LANs that are more secure, reliable and cost-effective. The certification gives Lucent Worldwide Services' professionals the credentials to design, deploy and support Wi-Fi and wireless LANs.

Introduced in the summer, Silver CWNP Solutions Provider Certification recognizes companies with credibility in the wireless LAN services marketplace.
