PLANET3 WIRELESS GAINS EARLY SUPPORT
FOR CWNI® CERTIFICATION

Trapeze Networks, Vernier Networks to support wireless LAN
switching and management CWNI preparation course

ATLANTA, Georgia. - October 27, 2003 - Planet3 Wireless, Inc., the creators of the CWNP Program, today announced early industry support for the CWNI (Certified Wireless Network Integrator®) certification and training curricula. CWNI is in development and is due for market release in 2004. Trapeze Networks and Vernier Networks have announced their support for and participation in CWNI. The CWNP Program is the industry standard for wireless LAN training and certification.

CWNI, the third level of certification within the vendor neutral CWNP program, will instruct and evaluate IT professionals' knowledge and hands on ability in the areas of wireless LAN design and integration. These areas will include segmentation, QoS, CoS, AAA, management, and DMZs using various approaches and hardware. Detailed proof-of-concept labs will be constructed by students using wireless LAN switches, enterprise wireless gateways, VoIP over wireless LAN systems, and an enterprise-class backend infrastructure typical of contemporary leading edge networks.

Design models presented will range from Enterprise to WISP and use 802.1X/EAP and VPN security technologies. The Trapeze Networks Mobility System will be used for the wireless LAN switching portion of the CWNI classroom training. For the wireless middleware portion of the CWNI classroom training, Vernier Networks' IS-6500p and AM-6500 enterprise wireless gateway devices will be used. Both Trapeze and Vernier have announced and initiated support for CWNI by endorsing the CWNP program to their VARs and customers. In addition, both companies are providing hardware, software, training, and support to the engineers at Planet3 Wireless for the development of the training curriculum. The infrastructure and VoIP systems of the CWNI instructor led training class will utilize hardware and software from Vernier Networks and Cisco Systems.

"Trapeze Networks is pleased to provide the switched wireless LAN infrastructure for Planet3's CWNI course," said Mike Banic, VP of worldwide Marketing at Trapeze Networks. "Those who become CWNP certified, including Trapeze customers and partners, will gain invaluable knowledge and insight into pre-and post-deployment planning, management and optimization of wireless LANs."

"Having a leader like Planet3 Wireless certify our partners on the CWNP curriculum adds an important building block to our partner program that will further enable our partners to succeed," said Doug Klein, CTO of Vernier Networks. "Vernier believes we can bring huge value to the CWNP Program based on the experience we have in protecting and managing hundreds of WLAN customers."

Kevin Sandlin, CEO and co-founder of Planet3 Wireless, added, "Having market leaders behind CWNI long before the certification and course hit the market makes a strong statement about the importance of advanced wireless LAN training, the demand for such training, and the market acceptance of the CWNP program as the industry standard for wireless LAN certifications."

The exam for CWNI, exam #PW0-205, will be available through all Prometric testing centers worldwide in 2004, along with the CWNI official study materials and courseware.
