CERTMAG SALARY SURVEY SHOWS
CWSP SECOND ONLY TO CCIE®
Wireless Security Certification Becomes a Top Career Investment
ATLANTA, Georgia, January 3, 2005 - The CWNP Program, the industry standard for wireless LAN training and certification, today announced that holders of their CWSP wireless LAN security certification are earning more than IT professionals with any other certification except CCIE. These results were based on Certification Magazine's 2004 Salary Survey.
Cisco certification led the list for the second consecutive year, with the Cisco Certified Internetworking Expert (CCIE) credential promising the highest salary for certified IT professionals, an annual salary of $105,140 for its senior-level experts. Following CCIE, the second top-earning credentials in the 2004 CertMag survey were the Planet3 Wireless CWSP certification with an average salary of $94,050.
"You gain a lot of prestige when you achieve your CWSP certification," said Kevin Sandlin, CEO and cofounder of the CWNP Program. "The CertMag Salary Survey validates your potential financial rewards along with the advanced knowledge you learn in wireless from CWSP."
"Certifying yourself in certain specialties within the IT world offers bigger payoffs and better long-term career solutions," said Tim Sosbe, Editorial Director for Certification Magazine. "Based on salary figures from the 2004 Certification Magazine Salary Survey, you might want to consider a career in either Cisco networking, telephony, project management or IT security."
CWSP ranked so highly because it falls into the IT security category, and because wireless continues to be the leading edge in networking.
IT professionals that have achieved their CWNA certification - the foundation level certification for the CWNP Program - are also being compensated very well. Holders of the vendor neutral CWNA certification have an average salary of $70, 120.
