New CWNP Wireless LAN Administration Certification Exam Launches Today

CWNA Updated to Reflect Changes in 802.11 Wireless Technology

ATLANTA, Georgia, July 11, 2005 - The CWNP Program, the industry standard for wireless LAN training and certification, launched its new CWNA certification exam today. The updated CWNA exam tests the skills that IT professionals need to properly design and maintain more cost-effective, secure, and reliable wireless networks. For example, the new exam covers the new 802.11 standards, wireless switches, and WPA.

"The new CWNA exam reflects the rapidly changing landscape of wireless," says Kevin Sandlin, CEO and co-founder of the CWNP Program. "This exam will prepare IT professionals to succeed in small and medium businesses, as well as the enterprise. For those people looking to move into wireless, CWNA is key."

IT professionals in 86 countries have earned the CWNA certification, and the CRN 2004 Certification Study named CWNA the third fastest-rising certification in importance. For individuals looking to get started in wireless, CWNA is the standard for proving their knowledge.

Experts in the wireless industry provided the guidelines for the content and objectives of the exam. Among these experts were the industry's leading wireless manufacturers, IT professionals, and educators who both research and teach wireless. The skills and knowledge measured by this examination were drawn from the scenarios that IT professionals encounter with wireless LANs in the workplace.

Those interested in the new CWNA certification exam are encouraged to visit the CWNP website www.cwnp.com for the test objectives. The website also contains information on training materials and providers, exam costs, and registration. The new CWNA exam has 60 questions, which must be completed in 90 minutes. Candidates must receive a score of at least 70% to earn the certificate.

The CWNA exam based on the 2003 objectives has been retired.
