Introduction
given situation.  As a wireless LAN analyst, these skills will make you
more valuable to your organization and to your clients.

How is this book organized?
The CWAP Official Study Guide is organized into two major units:
MAC and PHY Layers
Applied Analysis
The IEEE 802.11 series of standards focuses only on the MAC sublayer
(the lower half of layer 2) and the physical layer options.  Therefore,
that is what is at the heart of this book and the CWAP certification.  We
divide this subject – wireless LAN analysis – up into sections taking
the reader step by step through what is specified at the MAC layer
(frame formats, frame types, frame exchange processes, etc).  Then, we
move on to the PHY layers, differentiating between the most
commonly used PHY layers and how they work.  From there, we spend
the rest of the book talking about the types of analyzers, common
features, how to use them, how to interpret traces, giving examples of
troubleshooting, etc.
