Recent approval of the 802.11g wireless local area network (WLAN) draft specification has led to some confusion in the industry regarding the status of high-speed WLANs. Since the IEEE approval of the draft 802.11g specification, published articles in industry trade publications as well as communications originating from industry participants have contributed to the confusion by incorrectly stating that the status of the proposed 802.11g standard. This white paper provides information that should be considered for an informed position in the current high-speed WLAN standards debate.
