    Yes, that is correct. 802.11X

I have in hand an RFP calling for 802.11X compliance, and I asked specifically if there was some confusion and the customer specifically stated that 802.11X is what he wanted.

My google search reveals what I already practice - that so far, 802.11X is what we all say when speaking generically of 802.11 technologies.

    Anyone got something newer?

    thanks

  • "802.11x" is a slang, generic term that refers to the 802.11 family of standards and amendments.

"802.1X" is a specific term for the IEEE 802.1X port-based access control standard that is used with EAP for wireless and wired authentication.
