  • I find that this article by Cisco is helpful in explaining CSMA/CA. But, I would also like to piggy back on your questions with one of my own related to this very subject.

    In the article Cisco makes a statement that nearby STA/AP systems will create contention even though they are not on the same channel. All that is required is that the two channel's frequency range overlap (ie channel one and four as used in the paper) and the signal strength is sufficient to be received by both stations.

    I was under the impression that CSMA/CA only applied to devices on the same channel, I would appreciate any input with regards to this. I also apologize to the OP if this is seen as an attempt to hijack the thread.
