FCC Authorizes Private Space Launch Frequencies

The FCC has announced that the 2.2 to 2.290 GHz band is now authorized for use by non-governmental space agencies.

This should not cause a Wi-Fi systems any problems. However, historically we have seen harmonics from other devices cause us problems. Cell phones, for example, are known to (sometimes) cause issues at over a dozen frequencies.

IMO if you are near space launch or testing facility you might be on the lookout for network degradation in the 2.4 GHz band.

BTW, regarding possible cell phone generated interference, the CTIA publishes a list of these frequencies in their interoperability test requirement documents. The list of frequencies may surprise you. See this previous Forum post for more information:
