  • The new CWDP book has really good information regarding Impedance calculations and Return Loss measurements.

I already use my big spectrum analyzer, with built in cable calibrator, to measure the losses in my cables. I also have a test set for measuring the sensitivity and output power of my radios. And right this minute I have a network analyzer that lets me measure the return loss and VSWR of my antennas.

The question is, how do I accurately take CH's 1, 6, and 11 Impedance measurements of my radio? I'm sure I shouldn't be connecting a live radio to the input of the network analyzer, but I've been told that you can't just connect the input of the analyzer to the radios antenna terminal, and get a meaningful measurement.

What's the correct procedure, and do I already have the right tools for this chore?

    Thanks
