Does anyone know what the wireless standard Motorola Canopy uses? Is it 802.11A with special granted privileges from FCC to use higher gain devices? They are offering this as a WISP in my area.

Motorola Canopy has not used standards historically. They use 5.8 GHz, but not 802.11a. That may have changed, because I haven't looked at their product line in several months.
They are big proponents of 802.16e.
