New dual stream 802.11ac adapter for OmniPeek

Savvius (previously WildPackets) has announced a new packet capture adapter for 802.11ac that is both dual band and can handle Dual Stream transmissions.

Multiple adapters can be used simultaneously, over all a/b/g/n/ac channels. It needs no external power supply or antenna(s).

I have used the Linksys AE600 for /ac sniffing with OmniPeek Pro, but found it somewhat lacking. I had surmised that this might have been due to its very small size (reduced antenna aperture ?). This new unit looks better in that respect.

I saw the announcement and immediately went to the website to buy one. Lo and behold, the detailed specifications there indicate that USB-3.0 is required.

As I have read several articles regarding the problems with USB-3.0 and Wi-Fi, I am wondering how well it works with different USB-3.0 hosts.

I would be interested in anyone's experiences.with this, or 3.0 and Wi-Fi in general .
