    The other factor that comes into play is varying data rate. Assuming that the AP and the cilent have the same receive sensitivity, but the AP has more transmit power than the client, it may be the case that in a certain position, the AP can transmit to the client at maybe 54 Mbps, but the client only has enough transmit power (and, hence, SNR) to achieve maybe 12 Mbps. The fact that stations can use variable data rates means that range is not cut-and-dried, and so UPE is not cut-and-dried either.
