I see your point with the ESS being a usable term, but not ESSID. If we dropped the entire term ESSID I would be fine with it. It would actually be easier to explain to my students if I didn't have to use the term ESSID.

I guess where I was having trouble with what you were saying before is the use of the ESS, not ESSID. We agree that there is such a thing as an ESS, but not ESSID. I'll run with that.

Now, back to the original post. Since ESSID isn't a "standard" term, will someone else chime in (Devin / Criss maybe?) why it is used so often? Thanks!
