  • If I use a splitter to go between my AP and 2 antennas, does it split the current in half as it goes through the splitter or does the current stay the same as it travels through the splitter.

  • The current splits in half as it goes from the input of the splitter to the two output connectors. If there are 3 output connectors, then it will be split into 1/3. E=I*R is Ohms Law. The voltage across the output terminals is the same as it is across the input terminal, but the current is split among the connectors. Voltage x 1/2 the current = 1/2 the Power. Then, you also have to look at the insertion loss of the splitter. Some splitters may cause as much as 1 dB loss between the input port and the combination of all the output ports.
