One of the things that most determine the quality of site survey is the quality of the floor plan. Even when it is stressed to the customer that the better the floor plan he provides the better the site survey, I have (way too often) shown up on site with an old, poor quality floor plan that no longer reflects the current building configuration.

I found the following tip on Wi-Fi Planet’s web site in an article by Mike Houghtan.
TIP :If a CAD-based floor plan is not available, simply take a snapshot of the emergency fire safety floor plan that by law should be hanging on the wall near all the exits. Using preferably a digital camera, zoom in on the image, snap your shot and import it right into the Yellowjacket's iPAQ and viola, instant professional floor plan to begin your survey.

Although he was using Yellowjacket it would work for any site survey software that uses .jpg files.
