  • can anyone please confirm if the cisco aironet 802.11a/b/g client cards are currently WPA2 (AES) ready?
I've read conflicting information on Cisco's website.
If is is supported, what is the firmware/ADU version?

Both the PCI and CardBus (PC Card) ABG client adapters are WPA2 and AES ready. This is supported in Aironet Desktop Utility 1.2 or higher.

Pair them up with Cisco AP1130 or AP1230 access points running the latest radios and 12.3(2)JA firmware or higher and you're good to go for AES-encrypted sessions.

  • Thanks for your response Joel.
We have the correct IOS loaded on our AP and our client cards are C21AG running 1.2.0.4 which is the latest software available from Cisco downloads.
Unfortunately I only see support for WPA with LEAP, PEAP and EAP-TLS.
I do not see WPA2. I would like to test WPA2 with LEAP or EAP-FAST so I am wondering what version supports these options.
I am told by Cisco that both of these options are supported, but I am not sure of the version.

For the CB21 client, you'll need to wait until the next version of ADU is available. Should be out very soon.

  • ADU 2.0 is now available and supports WPA2/802.11i
