I am confused on whether 802.11a and 802.11g have the same data rates.
The following are from the CWNA OSG V3
PG. 186
- "802.11g devices can also use DSSS when communicating with 802.11b devices".
My understanding is that DSSS offers 1, 2, 5.5, and 11 Mbps.
PG. 212
- "802.11a-although it offers the same data rates as 802.11g,..."
States here that 802.11a and 802.11g offer same data rates.
Pg. 314
- States 802.11a data rates of 6, 9, 12, 18, 24, 36, 48, and 54 Mbps.
This website which shows specs on different Linksys hardware shows data rates being different for 802.11a and 802.11g.

Can someone please clear this up.
Thank you!
