    Day 4

    Constant Reader,

Thanks for showing up again. Sorry I?¡é?€??m late in posting the next day in our journey through the new CWNA 3.0 course but I got a little sidetracked on Friday and over the weekend. Regardless, and as Paul Harvey says, "Here is the rest of the story.?¡é?€??

On Day 4 we backtracked to Chapter 7 ?¡é?€?¡° Power over Ethernet and then covered Chapter 11 ?¡é?€?¡° WLAN Security. Chapter 7 discusses all the devices that make up a PoE solution. We talked about how cables are pinned out and what pairs carry data or current or both. We went over the different classes of PSE (power sourcing equipment) and looked at examples of all the different types of PDs (powered devices).

Chapter 11 was a long chapter and we had quite a few in-depth conversations about WLAN security and enterprise policies and procedures. We covered many of the security threats that plague wireless systems and went into detail on all the different types of security solutions available for today?¡é?€??s WLANs, such as WPA, WPA2, and the many flavors of EAP. We even discussed some of the best practices that companies put in place to deal with their security issues.

Tomorrow is the last day and we?¡é?€??ll cover Site Surveys and the labs.

    Joel
