  • is there a certain software that i can use to simulate a wireless lan? what i mean is, a software wherein i can configure wireless devices, or connections. Such as Packet Tracer?

  • I have not seen any simulation software. You should be able to buy an AP and some cards for a lot less than such software would cost. Plus, hands on with real devices would make for better training as well as starting your bag of tools.

    Try looking at OPNET, if you have the resources ($).

    We use the Ekahau software for small and 'easy' predictions and simulations. If you want to go all the way, the Motorola LANPlanner is what you need. We use it most of all to do 3D simulations but it allows you to simulate nearly anything. You can define your own antennas, antenna heights, angles, height of the client antennas etc;
    Quit expensive though.

  • If you are wanting predictive site survey work I use AirDefense Architech.
