  • Two things come to mind here.

    1) If you have not (or better if the customer has not) seen a diagram of what a patch antennas beam path looks like recently have him/her do so. Chances are with a 500m link in an urban environment that patch antenna is creating a HUGE path to the other end.

    2) As already mentioned, 40mhz wide is...uh...wide.

    Try 5.8 and use an antenna with a smaller beam width/more accurate path to the other bridge link. If nothing else it looks like he has a valid link with 1 antenna...so why change it?

    It sounds as if the customer hears of the newest and greatest wireless technology and assumes it is valid for all implementations. No one likes to hear they bought equipment that does not fit the intended needs...but better to have someone like you explain why, than to just throw junk up and hope it sticks...so to speak.
