DTIM interval and Long Preamble

Our hospital lab technician's use Symbol handhelds that are having issues and the vendor tells us we need to increase our DTIM interval from 1 to 10 and enable long preamble.
We have Cisco 1130 AP's and WSM controller based modules so these settings will have to be network wide.
Will this have a noticeable impact on the rest of the wireless network?
