  • In 2.4 GHz, the noise can be all over the place. -88 noise is Ok I guess in an outdoor deployment, but with highly directional antennas, noise is minimized compared to flat panel or patch antennas.

    If the noise stays at -88 dBm it isn't the issue, but if the noise and signal fluctuate for the worse (lower SNR) then of course issues arise.

    I can't stress it enough; 2.4 GHz is a poor choice for anything Wi-Fi that isn't used for backwards compatibility. 5 GHz is fairly clean, for now.

    To answer the question more directly, noise doesn't matter, signal doesn't matter (bold statement I know). What matters is signal to noise. That is one major key to good communication.
