  • The new CWNA book has been great, sorted out a problem I had understanding that the BSS is the group of devices and BSA is the wireless coverage by the AP for that BSS. After reading the CCNA-W book, there was one line in the book that made me think they were both the same thing.

Next point ESS, from CWNA, I understand to be 2 or more BSS connected by distributed system medium. It then refers to the fact an ESS doesnt care about overlap of the BSA or not, it is still an ESS.

What would be the term for the collection of BSA for the ESS from the CWNA exam? CCNA-W refers to the collection of BSA as an Extended Service Area, but with this clearly aimed at selling its products as it goes on to state that these are overlapping BSA. For the purpose of roaming. With no mention of non-overlapping BSA possibly part of the saem ESS.

Would it just be refered to as an ESS configured for nomadic roaming or ESS configured for seamless roaming?
