  • Went to a friend?s house last week and he showed me a problem he has been having with Wildpackets Omnipeek 6.0.2. I remember almost exactly the same problem when running a demo version of Omnipeek. Both of us have Linksys WUSB 6000N wireless adapters. Both of us are running Windows Vista Home Premium SP 1.

You can see the beacons coming from his home Netgear WNDR3300 AP/router and observe the detailed information elements just fine.

However, whenever he tries to do any form of data transfer [ browsing, e-mail transfer ] etc whilst the Omnipeek program is running, the led on the wireless adapter turns off, and you cannot communicate via the Internet. As soon as you click ?stop capture?, you communicate via the Internet properly.

    Got nowhere with Wildpackets/Linksys.

Has anyone run into this before/got any ideas ?

    Dave

  • Using the "ralink_usb2870v14018.zip" from http://www.wildpackets.com/support/downloads/drivers
both Cisco Linksys WUSB600N v1 and WUSB600N-AS v2 (dual band USB adapters) work with
OmniPeek 5 running on Windows XP.

In addition the EnGenius USB adaptor: http://www.senaousa.com/products/EUB-9703.html
(usually given away in Singapore together with other equipment) also works using the "ralink_usb2870v14018.zip" driver, but shows as 150Mbits/s adapter and in the Windows XP
Device Manager as: "Wildpackets EnGenius 802.11n Wireless USB Adapter" Driver 1.4.0.18.
