I had tried pinging, and what happened was exactly what you said.

After many years of monitoring, this was actually the first time I have tried to send data from the same device [ laptop or PC ] that I am monitoring on !! Usually I just have a laptop and monitor what is being sent from other devices, such as my main desktop PC.

Had hoped that the software would just ?sniff? by copying and buffering the data from the main data stream [ transmit/receive ], hence acting as a passive ?bystander?.

I?ll need to get another adapter.
