Let me revise my statement a bit. I definately don't think it's going to be possible to pass any advanced expert or prorfessional level exam without any practical experience. I haven't taken the CCNA tests in several years, and when I did take them I had a good bit of hands on experience with real routers, so I don't have a good frame of reference for that. I do think that most of the entry level exams (most of them having a mathmatical operator at the end of the name) could be passed with six months to a year of in depth studying and little experience. Either way, I definately recommend getting eperience with the technology that you're being tested on as part of the learning process.
