When Multipath occurs due signals being reflected and they come in phase the signal increases its strength and when they arrive out of phase the signal decreases its strength , is that it ?

Because i read that if they were 0 to 120 degrees out of phase they would increase its signal ( upfade ), between 121 and 179 they would decrease ( downfade )and 180 they would null each other.

Are these different things ? A signal will only increase strength if it is in phase with main signal or could there be an increase when it is out of phase ?

  • what you've read is correct, the waves don't have to be completely in phase to cause upfading.
