Why did/would you purchase an WIDS/WIPS?
Why did/would you not purchase a WIDS/WIPS?

I don't want to influence the opinions, so I won't add anything at this point. Please list your pros and cons. I am very interested in written opinions, so I'm not including a poll.

My orgaization just went through evaluating wether or not to invest in a seperate WIPS/WIDS system. After some study, we decided to not implement a seperate system and instead rely on what is built in to the wireless switch solution we had selected. While not as robust, it was in essence free, as it came with the switch.

It is worth noting that the only wireless we have is WPA2 with EAP-TTLS. No legacy gear in the environment. If we had legacy gear taht did not have built in functionality we would most probably have adopted some form of overlay for WIPS/WIDS.

WIDS /WIPS will fit only into a Enterprise where there are lot of Wireless
Client devices or in Enterpise which strictly says no for Wlan.
