    You've had some very good specifics outlined to you above - I would add only specific answers to your questions. The software tools you mention are fine - you do not need specific familiarity with commercial products - mostly - you need to adopt a "security philosophy" which is pervasive across the industry - and, then understand how 802.11i offers solutions in support of this philosophy.

    Ben's mention of free hacking toys should be carefully noted, and entertained if not otherwise covered by Wi-Foo. The primary books you mention are good, but - add back in the 802.11i standard that you mentioned earlier in your post.

    Another excellent book, besides the two you list, and the Security book mentioned by Ben, is the book AAA.
