Keep in mind that when STAs send probe request they include the SSID in clear text. Also, when an XP machine comes up it will begin sending probes for every SSID that it has associated with in the recent past, again in clear text. Not broadcasting the SSID may protect you when everyone is associated. However, a jamming attack of only a few seconds will cause all STAs to attempt to re-authenticate and associate placing the SSID in the clear again. This may be part of a layered approach to security, but not the one on which I would hang my hat.
