Protect SSID

  • Hi Reggie (Compughter):

Yes, hiding the SSID so that customers cannot pick it off a list of networks found to be within range, and making the SSID difficult to type, are both popular and dumb customs. The resulting layered security costs a lot of inconvenience and is virtually worthless. Anyone with a cheap protocol analyzer and a cheap directional antenna knows exactly what SSID is being used and where it is being used.

    Thanks. /criss
