  • I see from the new CWNP definitions document that WPA defines TKIPv1 and WPA2/802.11i support TKIPv2. I also see that the two are incompatible.

My question is does 802.11i support TKIPv1 in addition to TKIPv2 or does it just support TKIPv2?

Is this a case of 802.11i supporting two different modes of TKIP operation, which are incompatible, or is this a case of WPA defining a pre-standard, pre-802.11i TKIP implementation, and when 802.11i finally came out, the final TKIP implementation was different than the Wi-Fi alliance guessed, resulting in the Wi-Fi Alliance and WPA2 calling it "TKIPv2"?

    thanks.
