  • I was talking to someone a couple of weeks ago who is planning some wireless installations. He asked me how seriously is HIPAA, PCI etc taken:

  • HIPAA has been extended with the HITECH Act of 2009. The sad thing is that you can be compliant with both HIPAA and HITECH and still have a security breach. So just meeting the HITECH guidelines is too short. We should be absolutely paranoid about a data breach. HITECH is very serious. For example, if more than 500 PHI records are lost, the health provide must announce this to local media and report how many records they lost on this website:
