I have seen similiar situations, where the client card would connect under Windows Zero Configuration, off and on and not be able to get back on stablely till we dumped all the old profiles and starting from scratch again. Had to re-type the encryption key in the profile, and that solved the ones that were using encryption. It's like the WZC, (if you use it) has a buffer or memory that hangs on to the profiles. Your client card can do the same. Don't know if that helps, but I know how you feel. Also if you have another client utility running in the background, in addition to the WZC, it may screw things up a bit.

Then again, that's my experience with connections, I am slowly learning this wireless wizardry. FIRMWARE and SOFTWARE issues are a common anomoly.
