  • here's the Boy Scout way to measure.

    1. Get a friend and note their height..hopefully something even line 5-feet or 6-feet.

    2. Have them stand up against the tree.

    3. You stand at a distance back, with a ruler in hand.

    4. Using perspective, measure how many inches tall your person is - if they are 5-foot tall and with the perspective they are 2 inches, then you know 2 inches = 5 feet.



    (you know how you would hold your fingers up and pretend to squash people's heads? - perspective)

    5. Staying where you are, measure the tree height with your ruler...if the tree is 10 inches tall, then you know with your 'friend scale' that 10-inches ought to equal 50 feet for the tree.
