    I couldn't agree more. Colubris in fact is leading the way in the "hybrid architecture" whereby you have autonomous APs with a controller. The data plane is removed from the controller so that the controller only deals with management and control issues. This way, the APs can be easily managed plus the entire MAC lives inside the AP. Having the full MAC inside the AP is much more scalable and alleviates problems with QoS.
