Can any one help me in the following issue:

Time synchronization in the presence of AP is done through Beacon frame transmissions. Beacon frame has a time stamp field in which the current value of the time is inserted and broadcasted in the BSS. A STA will update its time with the value of the time stamp it receives in the beacon frame.

If the AP and STA are next to each other or have a good line of sight, then I can assume that propagation delay would be negligible for the beacon frame.

Suppose, if the STA is far away from the AP, and signal is received through reflection from surrounding objects, and if the propagation delay is significant, then simply updating time stamp value in the beacon frame at the STA would give an inaccurate time.

I know that above mentioned problem can be solved by removing obstacle, changing position of STA or AP, etc... however I am not assuming such case.

Any thoughts would be highly appreciated.

    Many thanks

    Danish
