  • I???¡é?¡é?????¡é???¡éve been researching the use of 802.11 fragmentation and reaching out to others for possible input.

    Have you implemented 802.11 fragmentation in any of your wireless LAN designs? If you have, did you notice any improvement in performance?

    I've never used fragmentation except in lab environments, but in my opinion it is fairly straightforward when to implement it.

    When you are getting a significant retry rate on large packets (but not small ones) fragmentation may help.

    I would also be interested in hearing any responses.

  • I had a customer some time ago where we toy'd with it and found there was some value to frag the larger packets. If i recall correctly, there was some neighboring interference which was beyond our control.

    The smaller frames reduced the amount of retries..

  • It would be interesting to lab this and see what affect it has on processor utilization.
