Netbsd, had the ability to bond interfaces like back in '05, but I didn't here much about it since. Perhaps that is what pfsense is doing. Openbsd may have this functionality as well. Another option now is it to use the Virtual Wi-Fi connectivity of Window 7 or Linux. Not sure about the bonding, but you may be able to figure out a solution for that. I haven't seen any documentation on it but supposedly you can connect to multiple AP's with virtual NIC's.
