  • You can increase the basic or management rates for wireless multicast to go through faster, but at higher rates sent in this fashion, multicast becomes unreliable, AND it still has to be sent out to all clients as if it is a broadcast.

The key is to make it reliable, as well as increase the bandwidth available for such traffic when there is 1 client, as well as if there are multiple clients, with multiple data rates. Any vendor you engage should be able to explain the path of traffic from the server, through their infrastructure, to the client. They should also explain the technical mechanism behind IGMP snooping, proxy, multicast to unicast conversion and from a protocol standpoint, what is happening to traffic in the single user, as opposed to the multiple user scenario with various levels of traffic. They should also be able to demonstrate it to you with their infrastructure, your video equipment and your clients.
