    Hi all,

I'm looking for good generic resources on fiber optics applied to wireless network design: available types of fiber (e.g. monomode vs. multi-mode), connectors, G-BICs, multiplexing, the hardware required for an end-to-end fiber links with copper-based APs at one end and core switching at the other.
I'm not looking for fundamentals about optical networks (except if it is used as a base) but rather practical information that can help me into deploying networks that involve fiber optics properly.
    Thanks in advance,

First of all, are you looking at Lightning protection, Wi-Fi in Tunnels, DAS networks, security, or some other use?

Both Tessco and  InnerWireless come to mind, but I don't have anything more specific for you.

If you look at some of the DAS antenna system providers (e.g. InnerWireless), they may have something you can use.

    Hi,

Thanks for your reply. However I'm not looking for a partner or any vendor solution, just technical information about how fiber optics work and the basic knowledge I need to have to implement such networks or at least to understand people implementing such network as backend of wireless networks. Something similar to the information level found in CWNA study guide, but for fiber optics networks.

I'm sorry I'm not a native English speaker, so I hope I manage to make myself clear.
    Regards,

I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for, but it's a decent intro.  There is a very demanding certification for all cabling types, the RCDD.  I don't think there's anything inherently different about using fiber for 802.11 networks, except when discussing powering the AP (can't do 802.3af or 802.3at over fiber).

    Hi

There are many fibre optic manufacturing products company from where you can get the good resources on the fibre optic products. I have recently contacted Andcorp for the fibre optic products. They provide reliable fibre optic products. You can also contact them via http://www.andcorp.com.au/.

    Hello Gjherblet.

In Beyondtech, Inc we have a great resources section were we discuss about Fiber connectors, standards, and techniques for fiber opticsenthusiasts and professionals.

They have a eBook of pictures with a steps of fiber splicing that is great, check it out.
