  • Is it possible to change a Cisco Aironet AIR-AP1231-A-K9 to an AIR-AP1231-E-K9 by replacing the radio module with an ETSI compliant device or does the whole unit have to be replaced?

    I've checked the Cisco wireless forums but without luck.

    No, it is not possible to do that. FCC restrictions prevent it.

    Reading back over your original question and realized I wasn't quite answering the question I thought you posted. Let me restate.

    If you have a AP1231 with a 802.11g FCC radio module (AIR-MP21G-A-K9), you can certainly buy a replacement ETSI radio module (AIR-MP21G-E-K9) so you can run it in Europe.

    It's not the chassis that makes it ETSI or FCC compliant, it's the radio modules.

    Sorry I hastily misread your original post.

  • This is certainly good news!

    I thought this was probably correct but I needed a second and much appreciated opinion.

    Just one more question concerning Cisco products;
    Where is the major manufacturing base for their Wireless AP’s etc (i.e. China, Europe or the US)?

    Thanks for your help Joel,

    Oscar.

    Cisco manufactures their own APs... where they're put together I would have to assume probably in the US.
