    From the 802.11-2007 Standard:

    15.4.6.2 Number of operating channels

    (Clause 15 is for DSSS - 802.11)

    In a multiple cell network topology, overlapping and/or adjacent cells using different channels can operate simultaneously without interference if the distance between the center frequencies is at least 30 MHz.

    18.4.6.2 Number of operating channels

    (Clause 18 is for HR/DSSS - 802.11b)

    In a multiple cell network topology, overlapping and/or adjacent cells using different channels can operate simultaneously without interference if the distance between the center frequencies is at least 25 MHz.
