Most everyone here knows that Japan allows channel 14's use in the 2.4 GHz ISM band. And, that it has a center frequency of 2.484 GHz. Others may know that they only allow 802.11b rates (i.e. 11 Mbps max) on that channel.
Given this performance restriction, how much, or often, is channel 14 actually being used there ?
The reason I ask is that manufacturing products for there requires additional testing, meaning cost, just for that market space.
Your input is appreciated.
To answer part of my own question - it seems like radio chipset manufacturers are playing it down. Several have said they support it, bu that it's not really used that much.
I was hoping to get some users in on that discussion - maybe I need to learn Japanese to properly ask the question :-).
