  • Have you heard about the new work of US Duke University researcher Justin Manweiler? He proposed that the access points should be able to co-operatively manage their shared radio environment, so that client gadgets can keep their Wi-Fi adaptors in sleep mode for longer, extending battery life. He claims that he managed to get "a median gain of up to 2x when WiFi links are strong; when links are weak and the network density is high, the gains can be even more".
This research paper can be reached here: http://synrg.ee.duke.edu/papers/manweiler11sleepwell.pdf

What do you think of this proposal? Does it seem sound to you?
