The WFA and Wi-Gig announce 802.11ad certification

WFA has finally (publicly) announced the certification program for 60 GHz. 802.11ad devices.

These will be designated as Wi-Fi CERTIFIED WiGig devices,

The test bed for the certification program, include the following:
- Dell® Latitude™ E7450/70
- Intel® Tri-Band Wireless
- Peraso 60GHz USB Adapter Reference Design Kit
- Qualcomm® QCA9500 STA Reference Design
- Socionext™ 802.11ad Reference Adapter
In the US, Accredited Test Labs are TUV and UL.

Interestingly, 60 GHz IE’s will contain a WFA OUI indicator.

Four of the five currently certified devices are in the Gaming, Media and Music category.
