India has announced that new Wi-Fi standards that will be required for new products starting in October, 2018.

The title of the document is:

Draft Security Requirements under the MT&CTE Framework for Equipment operating in 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequency bands.

    It is available at:

    http://www.tec.gov.in/pdf/TSA/draft%20security%20requirements%20for%20equipment%20operating%20in%202.pdf

It includes several new requirements, including some that will mean increased security testing (Fuzzing), and more user documentation.   It is also much more restrictive as far as  device configuration is concerned.

If you or your company is selling or distributing in India, it would be a good idea to go take a look at this document.

Often proposed dates are delayed - hopefully this one will be as well.

  • Thanks for sharing here. Much needed info.

I have not been able to confirm  the status of this new requirement.

If you know any more details about this topic, for example actual implementation dates, please post them here.

    Thanks
