  • Greetings everyone! I have a question regarding lightning protection and proper grounding techniques - perhaps someone can help me?

Recently, during a couple of wireless rooftop installations, a question came up regarding best practices for proper lightning protection.

The question is regarding the connection of the ground wire (such as #10 stranded copper) and the grounding lug or block: Is there any value or technical reason for soldering (tinning?) the wire prior to clamping it down in the grounding lug/block? Is there any NEC guidance regarding this practice or some other source that can speak authoritatively on this?

I searched on polyphaser.com for references to soldering the grounding wires prior to the physical connection, but couldn't find anything.

    ???
